• As a form of security (and for peace of mind) for the villa owner, the Guest Manager will request on arrival a fully refundable $2,000 (cash only) security deposit from the guest.
• Please note that any minor damage / breakages shall be charged at the end of your stay, at replacement value. If required, damages must be paid and will be requested by the General Manager and paid in full before departure.

A word from the owner

I, like many, had always wanted to build my own tropical escape on the beach of a beautiful island somewhere exotic, perhaps in the Mediterranean or in the Bahamas.

When I was relocated to Malaysia back in 1987 from the United Kingdom, it didn’t take me long to discover the spectacular islands that Malaysia had to offer, along with those of Indonesia and Thailand. My dream lived on, unattended to, until one day, when holidaying in Koh Samui, I was invited to view a ‘piece of land on the side of a hill’.

It certainly didn’t sound very exciting or romantic, but my friend had already taken the plunge by buying into his own dream and insisted that I accompany him to see his plot.

After a short drive from Chaweng where we were staying, we climbed an amazingly steep driveway up to the summit of an impressive-looking hill overlooking Choeng-mon. The road to the top had been completed, but no buildings were as yet in place.

Almost instantaneously my preconceived ideas as to where I would build my dream villa getaway were shattered: there in front of me I witnessed one of the most stunning sunsets I had ever watched unfold, whilst highlighting one of the most wonderous sea views I had ever seen encompassing a full 270 degree panorama, from Choeng-mon all the way to Big Buddha Beach and Bophut. There in the distance I could just about make out the bay where one day the W Hotel would be built.

So impressed was I with the sunset, I insisted on returning the following morning at 5.30 am to see if I could capture the sunrise as well, and I got lucky. An unbelievable sunrise awaited me, accompanied by an almost deafening chorus of cicadas and other creatures of the jungle.

I was sold!

I had never considered building anywhere other than the beach, but the views from the Samui Summit Estate were unbelievable. On the side of this mini-mountain, I enjoyed the cool breeze in my face and realised that this was exactly what I wanted – with the added bonus that the beach at Choeng-mon was literally only minutes away from the entrance to the estate itself.

That very day I signed a contract and committed to a wonderful adventure: the design and construction of what would later become known as the 8-bedroom Villa Skyfall Samui, complete with bars, theatre, lift and generator, and I have never looked back! After a 4 year build I opened my doors to a roaring New Year’s Eve party in December 2012.

Today the parties continue apace and the rest, as they say, is history!
